Gaslighting: a trigger | My Weight Loss Journey

If there was one thing I couldn't stand, it was gaslighting. Please don't tell me it's warm outside and it's snowing. I used to be s9 upset about it. I'd literally be telling the story repeatedly to other people in an attempt to get help.

It took years for me to 1st understand what it was then secondly to understand how to deal with it. People do this on a regular basis especially in business. How could I escape this and avoid a trigger that would catapult me into gaining all my weight back?

1.Announce your resignation

Now, I'm not saying to quit. Im saying to make it clear you aren't participating in this narcissistic shared fantasy. I have literally said "I'm not participating in this". Those psychos have no idea how to react to thar statement.

2.Block em

There was no better invention for mental health as it relates to technology other than to block folk on your phone. I highly suggest you give no warning as well. I had an in-law that kept sending me Jesus chain letters & scriptures. It was intentional. I wouldn't send my Christian family Ramadan well wishes. It's ridiculous. I asked her to stop & she continued. 🚫 BLOCKED. And it's not like I don't see her anymore. We still see each other however no one will harass me on my phone that I pay for.

3. Control your reactions

I have a relative thar is the KING of gaslighting and bullying. He's been doing it for years. I learned to keep a straight face. The last insult he hurled didn't do what he thought it would. I moved on in the conversation not even addressing the insult. He stopped and never did it again. I mean EVER. It's because it's not fun for them when you don't react.
